MMAC’s Manufacturing Careers Partnership (MCP) is as a growing coalition of manufacturers committed to coordinating efforts with educators and workforce development in promoting initiatives and solutions that will ensure a pipeline of manufacturing talent and career pathways to meet industry needs. The language often used is to offer a “clearing house” to coordinate information, resources and efforts for manufacturers, students, educators and trainers.   If you are interested in learning more about the partnership, please contact Shelley Jurewicz, VP Economic Development.

The MCP will advance its work initially through a pilot project:
Welding 101 – The start of a lasting career in manufacturing.  Focus will be given to the near-term need for welders, with an eye towards developing a model to serve the long-term needs of other targeted areas of talent development for manufacturers.

Through the pilot project the MCP will work with area and state-wide educators, training, workforce develop to identify (and if needed develop), qualify and standardize courses that will consistently, and expeditiously, prepare students/workers for the testing they will encounter by most manufacturers for employment consideration, including basic technical knowledge and the demonstration basic welding skills. The MCP will also maximize their project focus to ensure collaboration on outreach and resources to introduce students/talent to lasting careers in manufacturing through welding.  >> Learn more about the project.
