History of The Business Council (TBC)
The group grew out of a MMAC roundtable of Black business owners. It was incorporated in 1998, to create a stronger presence for Black businesses in the metropolitan Milwaukee economy. The Business Council members are full members of the MMAC and enjoy all the benefits offered by the organization in addition to targeted services.

The Business Council's mission is to facilitate the growth of Black-owned and other ethnically diverse-owned businesses in the Milwaukee metro-area by:

  • Creating business development opportunities
  • Improving the climate for ethnically diverse-owned business
  • Sharing information
  • Developing business and managerial acumen
  • Generating revenue for the organization to ensure sustainability

The benefits of a diverse supply chain must be marketed and promoted in metro Milwaukee on an ongoing basis.

If you select joint membership you become a member of both MMAC and TBC and receive the benefits and privileges of both organizations at a cost of $500 per year.

  2. Single Membership
If you wish to participate in TBC only – the cost is $250 per year and you receive benefits of TBC membership only.  Both memberships make you potentially eligible for the Minority Supplier Business Module. Joint membership payments are to be made out to the MMAC.  Single membership payments are to be made to The Business Council. All questions should be directed to the TBC Office, (414) 287-4172 or tbcinfo@tbc.mmac.org

Admission of Members
Prospective members are required to pay TBC membership dues in full at the time of application.  Membership dues cover a 12-month membership and are renewable each calendar year.  Dues, which are subject to change in price and formula, are payable in advance and are continuous until cancelled in writing in advance of the due date.

TBC Membership Dues
Dues are based on company size.  Companies with less than 25 local employees invest a minimum of $500 per year.  Companies with 25 or more local employees, please click here to contact the MMAC Membership department for more information. TBC membership dues may be deductible for federal income tax purposes as an ordinary and necessary business expense (not as a charitable contribution).  However, members should contact their own tax advisors for specific tax information and advice.

Non-Payment of Dues

TBC members who do not pay membership dues within 90 days of the due date may have their membership cancelled.  In such case, the TBC will notify the member of the cancellation, which shall require no further action by the TBC.
