Helping Your Business Go Global

Going global has become a business imperative for many businesses, but it takes vision and hard work to make it happen.  MMAC connects its member businesses with resources that can help them establish international business relationships, provide educational forums and pursue opportunities.  In the past decade, MMAC has led or been a partner on numerous trade missions to China, in addition to destinations such as Dubai, India, Brazil, Mexico and Israel.

China alone represents an enormous market for goods created in the Milwaukee Region. China is currently Wisconsin's No. 3 export destination (after Canada and Mexico).  Wisconsin's exports to China for 2008 totaled $1.3 billion.  Between 2000-2007, Wisconsin's total exports grew by 79%, but exports to China grew by 566%.

Several international giants have their global headquarters here, including Fiserv, Johnson Controls, Manpower, Rockwell Automation and SC Johnson. The region also is home to the North American headquarters for many international corporations – including ABB, Krones AG, Chr. Hansen, BRP, Metso Minerals and Nestle.  >> Learn more about Global Businesses in Milwaukee

MMAC’s China Business Council is a network of individuals dedicated specifically to those companies who are doing business in, or wish to explore business relationships in, China.

To capture international investment in the Milwaukee Region, the MMAC established an Immigrant Investor Visa Program through the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security.  This program offers green cards to foreign investors and their families who invest a minimum of $1 million (or $500,000 in targeted employment areas) in businesses that create at least ten full-time permanent jobs for U.S. workers.

The Milwaukee World Trade Association (MWTA) is an affiliate of the MMAC that links companies and individuals with common interests in expanding their international business, sharing their experiences and increasing their knowledge of international affairs.  MWTA holds monthly meetings on international trade and is a network of 300 corporations with 900 individual members.
