TBC's Initiatives for Success

TBC will work to lead change in this area by implementing the following key initiatives that will strengthen and expand member business growth.

  1. Foster success among ethnically diverse enterprises through education and active participation in the larger metro business community.
  2. Expand the scope and effectiveness of the:

    • Supplier Diversity Module 
    • Opportunities for broader member participation 
    • Improve corporate (second tier) program participation
    • Negotiate from a position of strength/excellence; help each other 
    • Corporate marketing/training 
    • Leverage relationships to include other ethnic group
  3. Strengthen TBC Membership

    • Gain an appreciation of member needs and each other's businesses through: 
      • Member visits (required of board members; others encouraged)
      • Annual survey 
      • Networking events 
      • Member board presentations 
      • Detailed business profiles, e.g., website  
      • Develop information clearinghouse
  4. Resources available to small businesses:

    • Networking 
    • Private and government contract database
    • Legislative issues
  5. Develop process to facilitate opportunity:

    • Sharing among members 
    • Structured networking 
    • Generation/sharing
    • Forum to develop new ideas and opportunities
    • Aggressive public relations program:
    • Formal written plan 
    • Communication with media 
    • Communicate to larger business community the importance and economics of diversity 
    • Raise profile of TBC in over-all community 
    • Promote accomplishments and goals
  6. Strengthen the Board of Directors:
  • Assure representation is reflective of TBC membership 
  • Recruit members from government and corporations 
  • Provide orientation and t raining to all Board Directors
