MMAC encourages students to apply for $5,000 Holloway scholarships

​MILWAUKEE – The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce is encouraging area college students from underrepresented backgrounds to apply for the Lee Holloway Scholarships for Minority Students. The scholarships, which were created by the Milwaukee County Research Park and are administered by the MMAC, are awarded each year to two college juniors who are studying technology-related fields.

Once awarded, the scholarship continues through a student’s senior year, provided they continue to meet program criteria. Each student will receive $5,000 per academic year.

The scholarship was founded by former Milwaukee County Supervisor Lee Holloway to encourage students from underrepresented backgrounds to enter technology-related fields such as computer science, chemistry and biology. The scholarship, which has been awarded since 2000, is funded by Milwaukee County Research Park property owners as part of the park’s Research Development Fund.
After graduation, students who receive the scholarship will be encouraged to stay in Southeastern Wisconsin. The Research Park will encourage its businesses to consider students for summer jobs, part-time jobs or internships.

Scholarship criteria, and detailed information on the application process, can be found online. Applications must be submitted by April 5.
