Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s 30,000-square-foot production is shown above. The facility was hit with massive flooding on Aug. 10. Assessed losses are in the millions of dollars.
MMAC President Dale Kooyenga provided the below statement on the approval of federal relief for those impacted by last month’s flooding.
“Thursday’s approval of nearly $30 million in federal assistance for flood relief is appreciated and serves as a vital step forward for our community. Last month’s flooding brought unimaginable hardship to families and businesses – many of whom are still picking up the pieces. We were humbled to work on their behalf to advocate for this sorely needed help.
We wish to extend sincere thanks to our local, state and federal leaders for their collaboration in securing this funding. It reflects the best of public service when people are put first.
This is more than dollars – it’s a promise that the region will rebuild stronger and more prepared. Let’s continue to work together, not just to recover, but to renew our commitment to each other and to the future of southeastern Wisconsin.”
