A student’s ability to develop into a leader in the workplace and community is largely shaped by the educators who foster supportive, engaging and inclusive learning environments that prepare students for success in school and beyond.

MMAC is excited to launch Ignite the Spark, a teacher award program that highlights the individuals who are inspiring Milwaukee’s next generation. This year, we will be honoring the hard work and dedication of 10 classroom teachers, representative of all sectors (public, private, charter) and all grade bands (K-5, K-8, 6-8, HS).

Do you know a teacher making a difference in the lives of Milwaukee students? From Oct. 6- Nov. 21, you can fill out the official nomination form.

All educators with primary classroom teaching or co-teaching responsibilities operating in a building within the city limits of Milwaukee are eligible and in consideration.

Each nomination will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of Milwaukee education trailblazers. The 10 selected honorees will be announced during Teacher Appreciation Week in May 2026. Each honoree will receive an incentive package that includes, but is not limited to, a monetary contribution from MMAC to be invested in the teacher’s classroom or used for professional development purposes, tokens of appreciation from members of the business community and public recognition via MMAC media channels.

Honorees will also have the opportunity to participate in meaningful dialogue around the state of education in Milwaukee and how the business community can help boost educator morale and retention.

Together, we can celebrate and support an essential profession that sparks curiosity, confidence and change in the lives of Milwaukee’s next generation, one educator at a time.
