Last week The Bartolotta Restaurants opened The Commodore in the heart of Lake Country. Developed on a historic 122-year-old property, this restaurant and event destination overlooks Nagawicka Lake. Guests can enjoy fine dining and hospitality while soaking up the wonderful lake views. “We are excited to unveil this two-year project and bring this iconic property back to life,” said Bartolotta Restaurants owner and co-founder Chef Paul Bartolotta. Originally home to Hasslinger’s Pleasant View Hotel and Resort in 1902, this spacious property has undergone transformations for over a century. Most recently, it was home to Seven Seas restaurant for nearly four decades. When The Bartolotta Restaurants launched plans to turn the property into the space that it is today, they did so with the goal of capturing the property’s rich history. “I knew we were on the right track with these partners that decided to build here when I found out one of his first stops was at Hawks Inn Historical Society to find out the history of the place,” said Mayor of Delafield Tim Aicher. The attention to detail and thoughtful recognition of the property’s history is apparent on each level of the restaurant. On the main floor, private dining rooms called Margo’s and Pepper’s honor “Margo’s Pepper Tree,” a restaurant that operated on the property from 1976 to 1978. The catering and special events space on the upper level holds The Grand Heritage Ballroom, a tribute to the property’s years as Heritage on the Lake and Spirit of ’76 Resort and Disco, as well as The Baldwin Lounge, named after former owner Dave Baldwin. Outside is the Pleasant View Pavilion, a space resembling the original Pleasant View Hotel and Resort. These are only a few of the areas on the property that guests can now enjoy. “I was looking for someone who had the detail and who had the eye and was a visionary, and of course, as you know, Paul is that person,” said Jay Franke, the Creative Director of HF Hospitality and owner of The Commodore. The Commodore is open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. To learn more about The Bartolotta Restaurants, visit https://www.bartolottas.com/.
