Mindful Measures to launch an innovative workforce management platform By: Allie Shane, Communications Specialist ![]() For most entrepreneurs, their business is a result of intentional planning. For Reginald Reed Jr., the creation of Mindful Measures Inc. happened by accident. In fact, he attributes the business to his relentless need to problem-solve and an unexpected quote in a published article, where his “don’t quote me on that” remark about creating new software was indeed quoted. Mindful Measures, a Milwaukee-based technology company will transform how organizations worldwide manage and measure their workforce. Thanks to the company’s Real-Time Employee Intelligence Gathering Network (REIGN™) platform set to launch this spring, organizations can eliminate workplace bias and help individuals reach their full potential. ![]() Finding a purpose At age 19, Reed was a high school dropout, living out of his car and running around in the wrong circles. That was until he agreed to work a construction job without pay, in exchange for helping his friend overcome substance abuse. It was a decision that changed the trajectory of Reed’s life. “We would take all of the money that we made and buy back everything that he had pawned. In the process, he would teach me everything about building a house,” said Reed. “My build taught me to believe in myself.” Reed spent several years as a steep-slope roofer, working 12-plus hours a day. He later moved into the world of sales, combining his knowledge and experience from his previous jobs in the trades to succeed as a commercial roofing salesman. Yet he knew that education and service – two important pieces of his identity – remained missing from his professional life. “Unless I am serving people, I am a shell of a person,” said Reed. “I wanted to find a way to help my community.” In 2016 Reed launched Mindful Staffing Solutions, an innovative cross between a $0 tuition school and a staffing agency. Reed brings individuals in as students. They are trained in jobs that do not require a four-year degree, such as construction, certified nursing assistance and phlebotomy. He then staffs the agency with the program graduates, offsetting the cost of their education. Despite having the necessary job certifications, Reed discovered that many of these graduates were not receiving fair treatment and compensation at the organizations they joined following their time at Mindful Staffing Solutions. Stemming from his need to address the problem of workplace bias, Reed created Mindful Measures. ![]() Irrefutable metrics Mindful Measure’s REIGN™ platform will serve as the hub of useful data in four core areas: time and attendance, project management, human resources and employee engagement. A key feature of the platform is the Real-Time Resume™. The tool tracks the performance and potential of an individual throughout their career. Skills, achievements, certifications and performance will continuously update, giving both employees and employers a clear, data-driven view of employee growth and potential. “So basically, it’s like a credit reporting system for your work ethic,” said Reed. On the employer dashboard, employers can view employee attendance, compensation and performance. Reed shared his excitement for REIGN™’s predictive performance indicator (PPI). The PPI is an algorithm that takes an employee’s performance, attendance and life barriers, generating a score that determines an employee’s probability of success. “It’s to make sure that people are getting what they deserve, and companies are getting what they pay for,” he said. Organizations will also be able to use an inequity gap finder tool. Employers can track hiring and promotion trends and ensure these trends align with employee performance and the organization’s overarching DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) and MEI (merit, excellence and intelligence) goals. “It is designed to tell you exactly where the gap is in your company so that you can fix it,” said Reed. REIGN™ is expected to launch in approximately 60 days, marking the beginning of beta testing and early adoption. Comments are closed.
