Seeds of Health, Inc., a Milwaukee-based nonprofit organization that operates a network of intentionally small charter schools, is excited to announce the development of a large-scale, 40-foot by 70-foot mural. The project will be installed on the Tenor Journal Square High School building at the corner of Kilbourn Avenue and N. Vel R. Phillips Avenue.

Tenor High School students, parents, staff and partners are working in collaboration with acclaimed community artist Tia Richardson of Cosmic Butterfly Design to create an art piece that symbolizes the capabilities of Tenor Students and their collective journey toward a successful future.

“We have the remarkable opportunity to work with an outstanding artist on a project that not only celebrates the Tenor community, but also honors the resilience, brilliance, and promise of Milwaukee’s young people. We are deeply grateful to Bader Philanthropies and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation for their generous investment in this meaningful project,” said Seeds of Health CEO Jodi Weber.

Community design workshops led by Richardson have concluded, with community painting days scheduled for April.

“My work is about bringing people together and creating a sense of community. The mural is the vehicle of expression that helps people work together towards making something better,” said Richardson.

Weather permitting, mural installation is expected to occur this summer.
