We’re growing our Rising Executive Roundtables! Due to strong interest, we’re adding new members and plan to launch a third group in August.
The Rising Executive Roundtables are designed for emerging leaders on the path to the C-suite. Roundtables are built for real conversations, not surface-level networking. Members meet monthly to work through challenges together in a confidential, non-competitive setting, creating space for honest discussion and shared experience. Members also connect twice a year with Milwaukee-area CEOs for mentorship conversations.
Current Rising Executive member Samantha Mehring from Great Lakes Industrial shares her roundtable experience in the following Q&A:
Q: What were you initially looking for in a peer group, and how has the MMAC Roundtable Program met – or exceeded – those expectations?

A: I was looking for a group of diverse leaders, along similar growth journeys, who could offer perspective outside of my own company and industry. What I’ve found in the MMAC Roundtable Program is exactly that — a dedicated space where honest conversation, encouragement and different viewpoints help us grow. Our roundtable has become a place where we can challenge each other to see what we may not be able to see on our own. By stepping outside of our own day-to-day environments and learning from leaders in different industries, we uncover blind spots, broaden our thinking and become stronger business leaders.
Q: What is one valuable leadership lesson or insight you’ve gained from participation in the program?
A: One valuable leadership lesson I’ve gained is that strong leaders don’t have to have all the answers on their own. There is a lot of value in pausing, asking better questions and seeking perspective from people who may see the situation differently. The roundtable has reinforced that leadership is not just about making decisions quickly — it’s about making thoughtful decisions with awareness, confidence and a willingness to learn from others.
Q: What are some of the most impactful topics your roundtable group has discussed?
A: Some of the most impactful topics have centered around navigating big business decisions, defining our own career paths, curating company culture and working through situations where there may not be one clear right answer. Those conversations have been especially valuable because they allow us to talk through real challenges with people who understand the weight of leadership decisions, but who can also bring a fresh and objective perspective.
Q: What has surprised you most about learning from executives and peers in different industries?
A: What has surprised me most is how similar and relatable many of our challenges are, even when we work in completely different industries. The context may be different, but the leadership questions, people challenges and business decisions often have a lot in common.
Q: What would you tell an emerging leader who is considering joining the program?
A: I would tell an emerging leader that peer support and outside perspective can be incredibly valuable to your growth. It is easy to get caught up in your own company, role or industry, and a roundtable gives you a space to step back, reflect and learn from others. The program provides encouragement, accountability and perspective — all of which are important as you continue to grow as a leader. MMAC puts much energy into creating groups that are intentional, balanced and supported, which provides leaders with real support.
