As we enter 2024 and I assume my role as MMAC president, it isn’t lost on me that the organization and this community have been set up for success. The foundation has been laid by many, and now, we must make sure the results of that hard work are sustained. There’s not enough ink at our disposal to commemorate the accomplishments of the MMAC while led by my predecessor – Tim Sheehy. While he’d be quick to deflect the praise, this community would not be where it is today without his leadership. |

As I said less than three months ago at our All Member Meeting, things we sometimes take for granted – K-12 education reform, the Fiserv Forum, American Family Field and much more – may not exist without Tim’s guidance at the helm of this 163-year-old organization.
But in his words, the only constant is change.
I’m humbled by the task at hand – excited to leverage the successes we’ve seen in this community in recent years and confident in facing the challenges we’ll be addressing together.
The runway that’s been paved certainly makes my job an easier one.
Our community’s budget issues have been tackled through bipartisan legislation, meaning we’ll no longer have to sacrifice public safety, parks and other quality-of-life services to make ends meet. A major investment in K-12 education will provide parents more options when deciding what’s best for their children and employers a deeper pool of talent as they build the workforce of the future. One of the world’s leading technology companies Microsoft, is the latest to invest in our region during a terrific run of economic development here.
This July, we have the opportunity to show off these successes as 50,000 people descend on Milwaukee. I’m certain our guests, as well as those watching globally, will come to realize that our community is one with endless possibilities.
Since 1861, this organization has had an immense impact on southeastern Wisconsin. I’m excited to carry on that legacy and serve the best interests of our membership and the community.
