Camo Crew Junk Removal: A veteran-owned business By: Allie Shane, Communications Specialist Nov. 11 marks the beginning of National Veterans Small Business Week, a time to recognize and celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of veterans who continue to serve their communities. Camo Crew Junk Removal is a local, veteran-owned business. Meeting the needs of both residential and commercial clients, Camo Crew helps with the removal and disposal of unwanted items. The company operates in the greater Milwaukee area, serving Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties. The concept of service lies at the forefront of Camo Crew’s operations. Business owner, Andy Weins, has over 20 years of military experience. He served in Iraq from 2006 to 2007 and in Cuba from 2014 to 2015. He currently works in the Army Reserves as a career counselor, helping service members navigate military and civilian career decisions. In 2016 Weins founded Greenup Solutions, an environmental consulting company that blended his passion for helping his community and the environment, with his interest in entrepreneurship. Greenup Solutions evolved into Camo Crew Junk Removal in 2020. Education, environment and empowerment fuel Camo Crew’s mission. The company partners with local schools to educate students on topics including leadership and environmental responsibility. Camo Crew maintains strong relationships with recyclers and organizations like Habitat for Humanity, repurposing most unwanted items instead of utilizing landfills. The business also hosts community E-recycle events where community members can bring their unwanted items to a designated drop-off location and Camo Crew will ensure that these items are properly recycled. Weins recognizes that Camo Crew often helps those going through periods of transition and stress. “The military is a values-based organization. Being able to bring ethos and comradery into the civilian world gives us an advantage,” said Weins.
Camo Crew’s commitment to the community and the environment does not go unnoticed. Camo Crew was recognized as a 2023 Outstanding Business by Governor Tony Evers and Missy Hughes, secretary and CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. Weins was also named to the 2024 Wisconsin Titan 100 List, a program that recognizes the top 100 CEOs and C-level executives in the state. When asked what advice he would give to veterans looking to start their own business, Weins’s response was simple: “Do the thing! Whatever the next step is…do that.” Comments are closed.
