MMAC’s ability to serve its 2,000-plus members relies on a well-maintained database. This month, database manager Andrea Medved celebrates her eighth year at MMAC. In her role, Medved maintains member information, organizes committees and affiliation codes, manages billings and keeps a pulse on database changes. Her passion lies in breaking down challenging data and helping others solve complex problems. Medved’s work on the back end of the database ensures that the organization can provide quality programming and resources for its members.

Outside of work, Medved has taken on various hobbies that underscore her love of nature.butterfly
Her backyard is home to 40 butterfly bushes and several milkweed plants. Each spring, monarchs migrate from Central Mexico to the United States to lay eggs.
“Under 10 percent of monarch eggs make it to an actual monarch,” saidMedved. When the butterflies in her backyard lay eggs on the Milkweed plants, she and her husband transfer the eggs indoors. Raising monarchs indoors dramatically increases their chances of survival. Just last year, Medved was able to support the development of 125 monarch eggs.

Not only does Medved enjoy raising butterflies, but she also cares deeply about bunnies.

Driven by this passion, Medved has been successful in rescuing over 20 bunnies. She ensuresthat they are placedsafely in a shelter until they find a home. Medved currently cares for four bunnies of her own.

“It’s so rewarding to take care of them, and they bring so much joy and love,” said Medved. “They are great companions.”
