Lee Holloway technology scholarships
for minority students

This scholarship program is administered by the MMAC on behalf of the Milwaukee County Research Park

The Lee Holloway Scholarships for Students of Color has been made possible by the Milwaukee County Research Park Corporation. The scholarships will be awarded each year to two juniors in a technology field and will continue through their senior year, provided they meet program criteria.  Each student will receive $5,000 a year ($2,500 each semester).
 
The recipient will be chosen by a panel of individuals from the Business Community and Education Personnel. The decision of the panel will be final.

Scholarship requirements & criteria for 2020



Documents required to apply include:
  1. Proof of your declared major (i.e., a form filled out by the student and/or an advisor declaring a major)
  2. A recent copy of your official college transcript
  3. Your current Student Aid Report (SAR) - If not available, must be forwarded before the interviewing process begins
  4. Your Financial Aid Offer/Award Letter from the college you're attending - If not available,  must be forwarded before the interviewing process begins
  5. A self-written essay (not exceeding 300 words) on why you have chosen to go into the field of technology
  6. A written recommendation from a professor in the technology field or an academic advisor

Important dates & deadlines
Friday, June 19 2020 - Scholarship applications are released. College/University representatives are sent scholarship outreach materials and asked to make announcements, post the provided flyers, or otherwise make students aware of this scholarship opportunity.

Wednesday, July 15, 2020 - Completed student application packets should be submitted online before this day.

Monday, July 20, 2020. Applicants will be notified of their standing. Students who are selected to be interviewed will be contacted by MMAC to make interview arrangements.

Friday, July 24, 2019 - The panel will interview the finalists and select two scholarship recipients. MMAC will notify the finalists regarding the outcome.

After graduation, students will be encouraged to stay in Southeastern Wisconsin. The Research Park will provide the names of the technology scholarship recipients to businesses located in the Park and encourage them to consider these students for summer jobs, part-time jobs or internships.

The scholarships are funded out of the Research Park's Research Development Fund. Property owners in the Park made annual contributions to the fund.
