The Talent and Industry Partnership also serves the broader goals of the region to grow the pipeline of talent for key high-growth industries. Here, we take a sector-based approach to connect middle schools, high schools, higher education institutions, and in-demand skills providers with employers in key growth sectors. This is a long-term approach with feedback loops that incorporate current and future skills demands and back-map the necessary skills attainment into regional training programs, higher education, and K-12 career pathways. As the COVID-19 related economic downturn drives shifts in industry demand and the value of skillsets in the labor market, the need is growing for rapid, nimble reskilling solutions tied closely to current job openings.
