Talent Recruitment Summit to provide insights in selling Milwaukee

In a competitive job market, attracting and retaining talent can be a huge challenge for area companies. Today, recruiters aren’t only selling salary and benefits, but the location as well.
 
To give recruiters and other stakeholders an edge when selling the Milwaukee region, MMAC and VISIT Milwaukee are hosting a half-day event – the Talent Recruitment Summit – from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at Potawatomi Casino Hotel.

The event will feature a number of sessions to aid attendees in marketing Milwaukee – headlined by keynote speakers Tracy Hadden Loh and Hannah Love, both of the Brookings Institution. They will present “Elevating Community: Why Transformational Placemaking Serves the Needs of Current and Future Residents.” During this keynote, presenters will provide insight into activity centers and why investing in these assets will play a critical role in attracting talent and growing the region.

Registration is $75 for this first-time event and includes lunch.

In addition to the keynote, the event will feature several other helpful sessions, including:

• How to Sell Milwaukee Like a Destination Marketer
  Hosted by Joshua Albrecht, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at VISIT Milwaukee; and Claire Koening, Senior Director of Communications and Public Affairs at VISIT Milwaukee. Attendees will learn the tools VISIT Milwaukee has used to land major conventions and national media hits.

• Branding your Company to Attract Talent
  Hosted by Meg Roman, Director of Change and Creative Activation at KPMG; and Michail Takach, Head of Social Storytelling at the American Dental Association. During this breakout, attendees will hear best practices in building a brand showcasing a company’s mission and values.

• Milwaukee Ambassadors: What Transplants Say About the Cream City
  A panel discussion moderated by Corry Joe Biddle, MMAC Vice President of Community Affairs. The panel, made up of residents new to the area, will talk about their experience in the region, the things they like and others they’d change.
