The Capitol visits Brew City

Last month the MMAC held our annual “Madison Night” in Milwaukee reception where the Mayor, County Executive and MMAC Government Affairs department hosted our elected leaders from the state capitol in Madison for an evening to get to know MMAC members and sponsors and our elected officials from the metro-Milwaukee region.

This year we chose to showcase the Wisconsin Center and the ongoing build out of the convention center that we hope to show off next year just months before Milwaukee hosts the 2024 Republican National Convention in July. The Wisconsin Center is just one good example on a long list of investments that the state of Wisconsin and our elected officials in the state capitol make in Milwaukee.

With record setting attendance once again, over 400 people attended the reception that brought over 30 members of the state legislature to downtown Milwaukee. That’s 1/3 of the state’s legislative branch of government. It was a bipartisan evening as Speaker Robin Vos (Racine) and Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu (Oostburg) joined Mayor Johnson and County Executive Crowley on stage during the reception, just moments after the Mayor and County Executive participated in a press conference with the Speaker introducing legislation to fix the state’s broken shared revenue system and also approve a sales tax to fix Milwaukee’s pension problem and protect public safety.
